Lottery 2003

Enzo - Grand Prize Winner of $1,000,000 TAX FREE CA$H!

It was a birthday to remember for Enzo Garbini, who marked his 77th year by winning the grand prize in BC’s Million Dollar Lottery. "It was wonderful – just what I wanted," said the Burnaby resident, adding he annually buys tickets for the lottery. "I won a suitcase a few years ago: now I use that to carry my money around." He plans on helping his son pay off a new mortgage, but remaining decisions on how to spend the money will have to wait until his wife returns from visiting family in Germany. She didn’t believe him when he first told her of the win – Garbini had to fax a copy of the cheque as proof. Proceeds from the lottery, which raised $2 million, will be shared by the Burnaby Hospital Foundation, Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation, the Mel Jr. & Marty Zajac Foundation and Variety – The Children’s Charity.
